History of Indian Head Massage...

Indian Head Massage is based on the ancient Ayurvedic healing system passed down from generation to generation within ancient India.  It is a holistic therapy incorporating mind, body and spirit.  The treatment has been practised in India for over a thousand years, originally to keep hair in beautiful condition by stimulating blood flow to the scalp, thus nourishing the hair roots.  It was almost exclusively concerned with massage to the head and hair folicles, although over time it has developed to incorporate massage of the face, scalp, neck, upper back, shoulders and upper arms.

 

What is an Indian Head Massage

 

It is believed that three of the major energy centres of the human body can be found in and around the head. These are the brow, the crown and the throat. Acting on a physical and mental level indian head massage stimulates these important energy centres, so helping to maintain the important balance of energy within the body, which in turn promotes a sense of wellbeing, positive energy and relaxation.

 

The treatment is a gentle therapy which is highly effective in treating stress related conditions.

 

There is no need to undress to receive this treatment.  Oils are optional on the head and scalp but are beneficial to improving the condition of the hair.

 

This is an ideal alternative treatment to a body massage.
