Hopi Candling
Hopi Ear Candling (also known as thermal-auricular therapy) is usually attributed to the Hopi Native American people, but there is debate about the use of ear candles by the Hopi people.
It is believed that ear candling was practised by many ancient civilisations including the Aztecs, Greeks, Romans and Aborigines. The ancient Egyptians used reeds from the Nile coated with wax, packing mud around the ears to form a seal.
More recently, ear candling has become a popular therapy in the west and is used to help a wide range of symptoms, not only those associated with the ears.
Benefits
Excessive or compacted wax in the ears
Irritation in ears and sinuses
Pressure regulation in cases of: sinusitis, rhinitis, glue ear, colds, flu, headaches, migraine
Pain in the ears from frequent or long haul flights
Swimmer's ear
Stimulation of local and reflex energy flow
Energetic revitalisation in cases of hearing impairment
Noises in the ears, ringing, tinnitus
Relaxing and calming effect in cases of stress
A treatment will start with a facial drainage massage. You will then need to lie on your side and a candle is lit. Candles are used for both ears. You will experience a pleasant crackling sound and a warm comfortable feeling as the candle burns. Once both candles have been used a facial massage is given and also a scalp massage.
There are various candles that can be used. I personally will only use Biosun Hopi Candles which are made by hand and are of the finest ingredients. Biosun Hopi Candles are regularly tested by independent institutes and are certified medical products according to EC guidelines. These candles contain a safety filter. I also use ear protector shields during a treatment.
A free consultation on your first treatment is required to ensure a treatment can be given. A treatment thereafter will last around 40 minutes.
